Boards welcome
Welcome to the new website for the World Mummy Studies Society! We are thrilled that you are here. Our organization is an international, diverse, welcoming consortium of researchers and students with backgrounds in anthropology, archaeology, forensics, history, medicine, museum studies, and many other related fields, the World Mummy Studies Society seeks to use interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to investigate, ethically, what can be learned from mummified individuals from past populations. We seek to be a global resource—in partnership with and guided by local communities—for comprehensive knowledge of, and best practices analytical techniques for, the study of mummified human remains. It is our hope that such insights might give voice to those in the past and inform our knowledge of health and disease in the present.
